About

What is Sushi for a Cure?

Cancer affects all of us.

Sushi for a Cure is a labor of love created to celebrate those who have fought and are fighting cancer while also fighting back.

We are celebrating our 12th annual event in Lake Oswego in 2024, benefitting the American Cancer Society, and we hope you will join us.

Together with my daughter, Sophia, and son, Jared, and with the help of many dear friends, we strive to continue the rich tradition of creating a fantastic event to support a meaningful and impactful cause.

For more about the history of this event, visit our family page.

What can I expect at the event?

Sushi for a Cure will be an intimate gathering where you will eat all the sushi you can, artistically prepared by Chef Ramon from Hawaii. Don't be discouraged if you don't like sushi; there will be plenty of vegan and vegetarian food. Enjoy cocktails, listen to fantastic music, and chat with interesting people!

Of course, the goal is to raise money for the American Cancer Society, and there will be several options to do that, including both silent and live auctions, plus the centerpiece of the evening, Fund a Cure, where you'll have the opportunity to donate at varying levels. Get ready for a fun evening!

Where will my money go?

Through the support of generous companies and individuals, Sushi for a Cure provides funding for much needed research, programs and services to save lives from cancer, provided by the American Cancer Society. ACS uses its century of experience and unwavering commitment to save lives, celebrate lives, and lead the fight for a world without cancer.

Funds raised from this event will go towards:

  • State-of-the-art cancer research

  • Deliver accurate and timely information to cancer patients, families and caregivers 24/7 through the toll-free hotline 1.800.227.2345 and website www.cancer.org

  • Educate the community in the Oregon and SW Washington about the importance of cancer screenings

  • Provide rides for cancer patients to treatment appointments

  • Provide peer-to-peer patient support for breast cancer patients
